Steven Duckworth
bio
Steven Duckworth was born in Sarasota, FL. He spent his early years completely oblivious to music until he came face-to-face with a cello in grade seven. After attending Sarasota’s High School for the Visual and Performing Arts, Steven went on to Ithaca College in upstate New York where he studied cello performance and enjoyed the “gorges” scenery. Steven continued his education at Wichita State University in Wichita, KS where he served as cellist in the Ozmodiar Graduate String Quartet, section cellist in the Wichita Symphony Orchestra and Principal Cellist of the WSU Orchestra. Moving to Pennsylvania in 2002 brought Steven back to his East Coast roots and his most recent move to Philadelphia in 2006 has proven itself to be the best move in quite some time. Steven is currently teaching in Philadelphia. He plays with Lehigh University Choral Arts, along with other area ensembles, and is a cellist with the Pennsylvania String Ensemble. Most recently, Steven had the honor of touring through China with the Philadelphia National Orchestra.
